COMMUNITY CALENDAR

Marsha Kremer of Shullsburg currently has a photography exhibit at the QueenB Radio building in Platteville.  Her photographs will be on display until September 1.

Platteville area teens have until 8:00pm on August 2 to submit their entries to the Platteville Public Library's 4th Annual Spotted-In-Ink Writing Competition.  The contest is open to Platteville area teens completing grades 6-12.  First place of $100 and second place of $50 will be awarded for poetry and prose to middle school and high school students.  Prizes are sponsored by the Platteville Library Foundation.  Entry forms and complete contest rules are available at the library or forms may be downloaded from the teen section of the library's Webpage: www.plattevillepubliclibrary.org/teens.

The Bell Tower Theater's hilarious musical comedy "Church Basement Ladies" runs from August 6 to 22.  Performances are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 3:00pm.  Tickets are just $18.  Call the Bell Tower Theater at 563-588-3377 or order on-line:  www.belltowertheater.net.

SATURDAY, JULY 31

The Platteville Public Library will be closed while the Southwest Library system does computer maintenance all day.  The book drop will be open for returns.  If you have large items that do not fit in the book drop, please do NOT leave them on top.  There will be no fines for any items due that day.

A fundraiser will be held in Bagley at the Community Park for a Veterans Memorial.  The event will be held from 10:00 to 2:00pm.  There will be a Bake Sale, Silent Auction, Catfish Dinner and games.  Royal Neighbors will match funds for the Silent Auction and Bake Sale.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 6

The 15th Annual Jamestown Park Fish Fry will be from 4:30 to 8:30pm at the Jamestown Park Pavilion in Kieler.  In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held at Immaculate Conception School.  This is a fundraiser for playground equipment.  Everyone is invited.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 10

The monthly meeting of the Grant County Genealogical Society will be held at 7:00pm at Schreiner Memorial Library, Lancaster.  Kerin Colson will be the guest speaker, offering new ideas about family tree research.  This is open to the public.
