A state appeals court recently vacated a St. Paul, Minn., man’s five-year prison sentence for felony theft after finding there wasn’t sufficient evidence for a Grant County jury to have convicted him. The District IV Court of Appeals concluded that although the district attorney had circumstantial evidence against 41-year-old Nathan Thomas Veesenmeyer, now of Somerset, there wasn’t enough proof presented at trial that directly connect him to the 2020 theft of a $25,000 UTV from Kieler Service Center.
