The competency of a Dubuque man accused of killing his mother to stand trial has been affirmed again by court officials. Iowa District Court Judge Thomas Bitter on Friday denied a motion from the defense attorneys of 28-year-old Tyler J. Dazey that asked for Dazey to be ruled incompetent to stand trial on the first-degree murder and animal abuse charges levied against him. The order marks the second time Bitter has ruled Dazey competent to stand trial.
