A UW-Madison economics professor will have the chance to help President Donald Trump shape his fiscal policies. Kim Ruhl was appointed Tuesday to the president’s Council of Economic Advisers, the White House announced. His is one of three economists on the council. As part of the council, Ruhl will advise Trump on both domestic and international economic policy. Ruhl is the co-director of the Center for Research on the Wisconsin Economy. He has written about topics including trade policy dynamics and tariffs. He will take a leave from UW-Madison while serving on the council and Prof. Ananth Seshadri will serve as the director for Center for Research on the Wisconsin Economy in his stead.
