Vin Diesel will write, produce and star in Mattel Studios’ Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots movie. The Fast & Furious actor was previously announced as the star but will now pen the screenplay for the live-action adaptation of the classic tabletop boxing game. “I am excited to expand the Mattel universe by bringing this classic toy from my childhood to a modern audience by telling a story that examines the role of competition in a world often measured by strength and dominance that dares to reveal the power of compassion at its core,” Diesel stated. Mattel Studios President Robbie Brenner called Diesel “a powerhouse storyteller with an unmatched understanding of action, heart, and world-building.” The film joins Mattel’s expanding movie slate following Barbie’s success, including 2026’s Masters of the Universe starring Nicholas Galitzine and Jared Leto, plus a Matchbox racing film with John Cena.
