Two people are safe after their ATV crashed through the ice. Thursday afternoon, the Vernon County Dispatch Center began receiving 9-1-1 calls reporting that two people, on an All-Terrain Vehicle, went through the ice on the Mississippi River near the Stoddard Boat Landing. A sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and determined that both individuals, 64-year-old James D. Borski and 62-year-old Scott J. Borski both of Wisconsin Rapids made it to shore safely. Both were evaluated by EMS, but neither were transported to the hospital. The ATV owner made their own arrangements to have the ATV removed from the water. The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
