As neighboring Illinois is set to adopt new laws next year to legalize marijuana, a border county has taken steps to ban any marijuana establishments – IF Wisconsin were to legalize the drug. According to a report, the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors has approved an ordinance to prohibit marijuana establishments in the county. The new law will take effect before the end of the year. The ordinance prohibits all marijuana establishments within Lafayette County – including the resale or commercial selling of marijuana or any product that contains marijuana. It also prohibits the sale of drug paraphernalia. Supervisor Kriss Marion tried to amend the ordinance to specify prohibiting only recreational marijuana – however that measure was voted down.
