A man from Platteville was uninjured after his truck struck a power pole and caught on fire Friday. According to the Grant County Sherrif’s Department, 25 year old Brad Kruppe of Platteville was traveling on County Highway U in Beetown Township around 6pm. Road conditions were snow covered and slippery and Kruppe hit a slick spot in the road, causing his truck to go off the west side of the road.The truck crashed into a power pole owned by Scenic Rivers and came to rest. Kruppe left the scene to contact law enforcement. While Kruppe was away from the scene, his truck caught on fire and became fully engulfed in flames. The Bloomington Fire Department responded to the scene and was able to get the fire extinguished. The truck was a total loss. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Bloomington Fire Department, West Grant EMS,and B&M Towing of Bloomington.
