Authorities with the Grant County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 81 in Beetown near Laufenberg Lane shortly before noon on Saturday. Reports say a truck driven by 41 year old Christopher Cooley of rural Cassville was traveling westbound on Highway 81 and collided with a vehicle driven by 26 year old Kelsey Borcherding of Fennimore. Both vehicles were negotiating a sharp curve on a hill. Cooley’s vehicle careened out of control, left the roadway on the north side of the road, overturned, and came to rest on its driver’s side. The vehicle was hanging off of a 100 foot embankment by a few small trees. There was a creek at the bottom of the embankment. Borcherding’s vehicle continued eastbound after the crash and came to rest in the south ditch. Both vehicles sustained heavy front end and driver’s side damages. Borcherding and three children in the vehicle were taken to Grant Regional Health Center for non-life threatening injuries. Cooley was taken by private vehicle to Grant Regional Health Center for non-life threatening injuries as well. All individuals involved were wearing seat belts or were secured in car seats. Borcherding was cited for Operating Left of Center, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, and Non Registration of a Motor Vehicle.
