A man from Mount Hope is facing his 3rd OWI offense along with firearms charges after nearly hitting a Grant County Sheriff’s Department squad car on Wednesday morning. At around 11:15am Wednesday, the deputy was traveling north on County Road X in Wyalusing Township near Borhringer Lane. The Deputy noticed a truck driven by 59 year old Daniel Meyers of Mount Hope was traveling south and came around a corner across the center line, in the Deputy’s lane of travel. The Deputy was able to avoid a crash, got turned around, and subsequently stopped Meyers for operating left of center. Upon further investigation, it was discovered Meyers had a loaded rifle in the front seat and had been drinking. After field sobriety tests, Meyers was arrested for his 3rd offense of OWI. Meyers was booked into jail on the OWI charge and for going armed while intoxicated. Meyers was also cited for open intoxicants in the vehicle and operating left of center.
