Wisconsin Senate Passes $250 Million GOP Tax Cut

Republicans’ 250-million-dollar tax cut package passed along party lines this morning in the Wisconsin Senate before heading to the Assembly for a vote.  The plan would reduce income taxes for average filers by 106 dollars and decreases the personal property tax faced by Wisconsin businesses by 40-million dollars.  Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said, “thanks to responsible budgeting and a strong economy in Wisconsin, I am thrilled that we were able to pass both an income tax cut for hard-working Wisconsin families and a tax cut for the businesses of our state.”  Democrats temporarily blocked the plan last night.  The G-O-P rejected Governor Evers’ 250-million-dollar proposal to increase school funding and reduce property taxes by 130-million.
