Lancaster community members and leaders have learned more about a proposed Kwik Trip store at the old jail site. During a public meeting last night, residents voiced concerns about possible traffic and noise issues with a 24-hour gas station in the neighborhood. While others suggested having the convenience store located closer to the Highway 129 bypass on Lancaster’s northeast edge. City officials said that Kwik Trip hasn’t officially purchased any of the property yet. However, the company does hold the right of first refusal. If the project moves forward, Kwik Trip could start construction at the former sheriff’s office next spring. The company isn’t planning any changes for its current site downtown.
