A man from Potosi was arrested by Crawford County authorities at around 1:30am on Monday. A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at a gas station parking lot in Prairie du Chien. Immediately after making contact with the vehicle, the driver tried to walk away from the traffic stop. The driver was identified as 28 year old Antoine Brown of Potosi. While talking with Brown, the deputy noticed he was extremely nervous and had a strong odor of marijuana. A search yielded a glass smoking device containing suspected methamphetamine and marijuana, plus a large amount of currency was in the vehicle. It was later determined that Brown had smoked marijuana and meth prior to the traffic stop. Brown was taken into custody to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of meth paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of THC, operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance, operating after suspension, and a probation violation.
