City of Prairie du Chien officials have restricted access to St. Feriole Island due to flooding concerns along the Mississippi River. On the city’s Facebook page, Mayor Dave Hemmer announced that all roads to the island – with the exception of Water Street – will be closed beginning today (Monday). As the river continues to rise, sandbags are available at the Prairie du Chien Street Department office – which is located on East Washington Street. Mayor Hemmer also reminded motorists who drive around barricades put in place by police could face a fine.
