Referendums for three area school districts have gotten approval from voters. An operational referendum for the Cassville School District has passed on a 399 to 127 vote. The measure allows the district to exceed the state revenue limit by up to $1-million dollars for the next 3 school years – and by up to $1.2-million dollars for the 3 years after that. The Cassville School District referendum also has a recurring portion that lets officials go above the revenue limit by up to $600-thousand dollars going forward.
Another referendum was for $2.5-million dollars in general obligation bonds for the Southwestern School District. It was approved on a 748 to 502 vote. The funds will go towards athletic field and elementary school playground renovations and improvements. That includes adding an 8-lane track, installing turf at the football field, as well as baseball and softball diamond updates. Funding will also be used to buy equipment that’s related to those projects.
And – a roughly $1-million dollar operational referendum for the Wauzeka-Steuben School District passed 394 to 174. The funds are going to be spread over 3 school years starting this fall. District officials say Wauzeka-Steuben schools will be able to exceed the revenue limit this coming school year by up to $240-thousand dollars. The board could go above the limit by $316-thousand dollars the following year – and by $398-thousand in the third and final year of the referendum.
