A southwest Wisconsin legislator is asking the governor to consider a plan that would re-open the state’s tourism and hospitality industry before May 26th. Representative Travis Tranel has written to Governor Tony Evers and Tourism Secretary-designee Sara Meaney calling for an immediate meeting of the Governor’s Council on Tourism. In the letter, Tranel writes the Tourism Federation of Wisconsin has requested the state form a bi-partisan commission to create a plan for having tourism-related businesses open prior to Memorial Day weekend. Tranel is the chair for the Assembly’s committee on tourism. Also signing the letter was Senator Andre Jacque who chairs the Senate’s tourism committee.
