Iowa County Chase

Authorities with the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 19-year-old Madison man Saturday after a car chase on Highway 151 near Mineral Point. According to reports, law enforcement officials received a report from Lafayette County dispatch around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday about a vehicle going at a reduced speed. Officers with the Mineral Point Police Department saw the vehicle driving slowly on the highway and tried to pull it over. However, the vehicle failed to stop. Both the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department and Ridgeway Marshal’s Office joined the pursuit a short time later. Stop sticks were used twice, but the driver avoided them both times. Officials say that the vehicle was driving north in the southbound lanes against traffic. Police were able to stop the vehicle and arrested Daeshawn Webster. He’s been charged with operating under the influence of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, driving on the wrong side of a divided highway and operating without a valid license. No injuries were reported during the incident.
