A few dozen people gathered along streets in Dodgeville holding signs on Wednesday, condemning the killing of George Floyd. The organizers say small towns like Dodgeville are not immune to the racial injustices that are seen across the country. They wanted to show that their town stands in solidarity with those fighting for equality.The group says they experienced a lot of backlash as they organized the event from people afraid their protest would bring violence to Dodgeville. That gathering stayed peaceful, which was the intent. Prior to the gathering, city crews could be seen removing planters, garbage bins and other items that would be easily moved as a precaution.
