The new Lancaster municipal swimming pool will be opened in some capacity this summer. The Lancaster Common Council voted Monday to allow the pool to open for lap swimming starting this Saturday (June 20). Lap swimming will continue for a week, and then the council gave the authority to city staff to make adjustments on restrictions. Lancaster city staff has different options to phase-in operations at the new pool. One plan would limit the pool to no more than 30 visitors at a time, but that could be scaled back as officials see how well social distancing is followed. The council’s move to let staff direct changes regarding the pool’s capacity means they can more quickly adjust facility guidelines. The motion approved by the Lancaster Common Council on Monday also included a provision that the diving boards be opened as well.
