A Black River Falls couple had to be extricated from a semi that crashed on Saturday evening just north of Mount Sterling. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says 65-year-old Bryon Thompson and his wife, 64-year-old Debra Thompson, were traveling north on Highway 27 about 5:30p. Bryon Thompson was driving a semi-tanker truck hauling a load of milk. While negotiating a curve, the semi went off the right side of the road, tipped on its side, slid into a tree and came to rest on its top. Officials with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office closed parts of Highway 27 while emergency crews helped both Thompsons get out of the truck. The couple was taken to Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse for treatment of unspecified injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
