Crawford County officials say a rural Prairie du Chien man is in custody after he initially fled the scene while deputies were investigating the death of a child. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reports 29-year-old Chase Harville was captured about 2pm Friday afternoon. Authorities were called early Friday regarding the death of a 3-year-old boy at a home on County Highway N. As officials were investigating the scene, Harville ran from the area on foot which led authorities to seek help from the public in catching him. A release from the sheriff’s office said Harville was found by law enforcement members who were searching the woods behind the home on County Highway N in rural Prairie du Chien. Harville is being held at the Crawford County Jail on a tentative charge of 1st-degree reckless homicide pending a bond hearing.
