Two people were arrested late Monday night after authorities were called about a domestic dispute in the Village of Belmont. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office reports 28-year-old Jose Mercado-Ortiz of Gainesville, Florida, was arrested on charges for disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, battery and possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies also arrested 20-year-old Nasharelys Morales-Velez of Puerto Rico for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property. Both were taken to the Lafayette County Jail where they were booked on their charges and remain in custody.
