There’s a tree that stands alone in a field south of Platteville – but over the past eight years, that tree has never truly been alone. One day local photographer Mark Hirsch picked up his iPhone and started a project, taking photos of “That Tree” – snapping a pic every day for a year, along the way, making a connection with it. Well, the severe storms that blew thru Grant County Monday took “That Tree” with them. It’s not just a loss for Hirsch, but for a community he built with his photos and videos thru social media. Hirsch said he doesn’t want to remember the tree like it was after the storm, so he won’t take any photos of the damage.
