When one of the two women accused of attacking a state senator stood mute in Dane County Circuit Court Tuesday, a not guilty plea was entered on her behalf. Kerida O’Reilly and Samantha Hamer, formerly of Platteville who now works in the Mount Horeb School district, face a charge of party to a crime of substantial battery. The women are accused of attacking State Senator Tim Carpenter last June. Carpenter was taking a picture of protesters when he was assaulted, suffering injuries that required surgery. Hamer has a court appearance scheduled for today in Madison.
