City councils for Lancaster and Platteville will be discussing the future of face-mask mandates this week. The communities are reviewing options if the governor’s state-wide mandate is not extended September 28th. The City of Lancaster is considering extending the required use of face masks by city staff and the public when within city facilities. Lancaster’s City Council could vote on that potential extension during its meeting tonight (Mon, Sept 21). The City of Platteville and its Common Council are looking at a community-wide mask mandate. The recommendation up for discussion tomorrow night (Tues, Sept 22) is whether the city goes ahead with adopting a new ordinance to require face coverings in any building open to the public. The Platteville Common Council won’t be taking action on any new mask ordinances this week. Details on the proposals can be found on the Lancaster or Platteville city web-pages.
