A Green County man is dead after suffering injuries from a farm accident Wednesday afternoon. Green County dispatchers received a report of a man who was trapped under the head of a combine in a farm field west of Monticello. An initial investigation revealed a 62-year-old Monticello man was using the combine to pick soybeans when the combine had mechanical problems. Officials said the man tried making repairs but became pinned under the head of the equipment. The victim was freed and lifesaving measures were performed, but MedFlight personnel who arrived pronounced the man deceased. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the victim’s name has not been released at this time.
