A sheriff from southwest Wisconsin has been appointed to a special task force to address racial issues and challenges across the state. Grant County Sheriff Nate Dreckman will serve on Assembly Speaker Robin Vos’ Task Force on Racial Disparities. The task force, chaired by Majority Leader Jim Steineke and Representative Shelia Stubbs, is made up of 4 legislators and 27 other community members. According to a release, the group will “focus on ways to address racial disparities, educational opportunities, and public safety, along with law enforcement policies and standards.” Vos said more than 100 people applied for a position. Dreckman will join task force members for an introductory meeting at the state capitol in Madison on October 28th at 1pm.
