Two vehicles crashed Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Clay Street and Minerva Street in Darlington. The Darlington Police Department, Darlington Fire Department, and EMS responded just after 3pm. According to Darlington Police, a northbound vehicle driven by 33 year old Janelle Johnson of Darlington failed to yield the right-of-way to an eastbound vehicle driven by 77 year old Donna Smith of Darlington. The collision caused Smith’s vehicle to overturn, thereby trapping her inside. Smith was extricated from the vehicle by Darlington Fire Department personnel and escaped serious injury. She was treated at the scene by EMS and released. Johnson and her passengers were not injured. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and Al’s Towing assisted at the scene.
