A rash of thefts in the city of Platteville has police warning residents to be sure they lock their vehicles. In a social media post, the Platteville Police Department said their office is aware of the incidents and that they “share in the public’s frustration” with these crimes. Police are encouraging the public to lock your vehicle and remove any valuables. The post also noted police have arrested a person in the recent past several times for this same offense. However, that person of interest is not incarcerated at this time. You should report any suspicious behavior linked to vehicle thefts when you see it. Residents with video footage that could assist in the investigation should contact the Platteville Police Department at 608 – 348 – 2313.
