Shirley scores twice as Wisconsin blanks Providence in NCAA Quarterfinals

ERIE, Penn. – For the seventh-straight year, the Wisconsin women’s hockey team is headed to the Frozen Four.The Badgers shutout the Friars 3-0 in their NCAA Quarterfinal matchup.

Senior captain Brette Pettet put UW on the board in the first period with a snipe and that’s all the Badgers would need.

Kennedy Blair only had 12 shots come her way, but she stopped them all for her seventh shutout of the year. Sophie Shirley would tally 2 third period goals.

Wisconsin will face either Ohio State or Boston College on Thursday.
