Highway 81 Project To Begin Soon

Road work will begin soon on the main highway connecting Lancaster and Platteville. Wisconsin DOT officials are shutting down Highway 81 from Ridge Avenue in Platteville to Highway 61 south of Lancaster. The roughly 12-mile stretch will be closed to thru traffic starting this week – and the highway will remain closed until later this fall. Along with replacing the pavement, crews will make minor structural repairs on bridges over the Little Platte and Platte Rivers. Detours will be marked using Highway 151 south of Platteville to Highway 61 at Dickeyville.
