State Senator Howard Marklein – along with State Representatives Travis Tranel and Todd Novak – have sent a letter to Governor Tony Evers, asking him to hold a listening session in southwest Wisconsin regarding the Uplands Wind Project. The Uplands Wind Project plans to install 120 to 200 turbines across 30,000 acres in Lafayette and Iowa Counties. Pattern Energy is set to start construction in 2023. In a release, the legislators noted that while renewable energy advocates have praised the project – others have expressed concerns it will have negative impacts on home values, farms, health, and the beauty of the Driftless Area. Their letter to Evers requests a listening session this summer to hear from those impacted by the governor’s goal of Wisconsin being 100% carbon-free by 2050.
