Skid Loader Hit By Truck in Work Zone

A skid loader was struck by a passenger truck in a work zone in Grant County Tuesday afternoon. The Grant County Sheriff’s office was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 81, just west of Old Lancaster Road around 3:30pm. 19 year old Makayla Rooney of Platteville was traveling west in a truck and crashed into a Cat skid loader being operated by 42 year old Tyree Schultz of Montfort. Schultz was loading a dump truck with the skid loader when he was struck by Rooney. Rooney got out of her vehicle and forgot to put it in park. The truck then coasted off of the roadway, traveling about100 feet out into a hay field. The skid loader had minor damage. The truck had heavy front end damage. No injuries were reported. Rooney was cited for operating too fast for conditions in a work area.
