Two people were injured in rural Elizabeth when a pair of motorcycles crashed into each other on Sunday afternoon. The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says the operators of the motorcycles – 26-year-old Alex Gibbs of Villa Park, and 44-year-old Jeramy Carbone of Crystal Lake – were trying to pass a truck when the collision occured. Authorities say the two men were behind a truck driven by 19-year-old Jeremiah Ellinor of Elizabeth. Ellinor’s truck was pulling a trailer carrying hay bales. As he slowed to make a left turn into a private lane, the motorcyclists tried to go around the truck and crashed into each other. Gibbs was air-lifted to a Rockford hospital for treatment. A passenger on Carbone’s motorcycle – 40-year-old Darbi Carbone, also of Crystal Lake – was taken to a hospital in Freeport. The crash remains under investigation.
