The Avoca man, who is accused of killing his mother earlier this year, has changed his plea. According to court reports, 21-year-old Sean Pickett, initially entered a not guilty plea. He has since changed that plea to not guilty by reason of insanity. Pickett told investigators that evil voices told him to kill his mother and the family’s dog back in mid-May. Officials say that a professional will examine Pickett’s mental health. He is scheduled to appear in Iowa County Court again this October.
