Two people suffered minor injuries after a car collided with a semi in Patch Grove Township on Friday around 8:15am. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, 26 year old Christopher Wilkinson of Prairie du Chien was driving a semi east on Highway 18, when a car driven by 84 year old Jane Trumm of Glen Haven was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of County Highway P and Highway 18. Trumm said she saw the turn signal on the semi, but it was the hazard lights as the semi was driving up the hill. Trumm turned onto Highway 18 in front of the path of the semi, and the semi struck the driver’s side of Trumm’s vehicle. Trumm’s vehicle came to rest in the opposite lane of traffic and the semi ended up in a ditch. Trumm was taken to Grant Regional in Lancaster and a passenger in the semi, Beth Fitzl of Iowa, was evaluated at the scene by EMS and released. Trumm’s vehicle was a total loss and the semi had minor front end damage. Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene was the Wisconsin State Patrol, West Grant EMS, and Bloomington Fire Department.
