Fire officials spent over 5 hours on the scene of a blaze late Tuesday into early Wednesday in Prairie du Chien. According to reports, crews were called to the two-family house on North Main Street just before 10pm Tuesday. Firefighters say the roof of the dwelling collapsed, which kept crews from getting water on the fire. Three people inside the home were trapped when the fire started, but they eventually were able to get out safely. No injuries were reported. Total damage to the home and its contents is estimated at $200-thousand dollars. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
