Two people suffered minor injuries when a vehicle struck an Amish buggy on Highway 81 Tuesday. Belmont Fire and EMS responded to Elk Grove Township shortly before 9am for a vehicle vs Amish buggy accident. 33 year old Dakota Rice of Lancaster was traveling east on Highway 81 in his 2020 Jeep when he rear ended an Amish buggy, operated by 20 year old Jacob Lapp, JR of Belmont. Lapp and his passenger, 18 year old Jonas Lapp of Belmont reported minor injuries, but refused treatment by EMS. Rice was not injured and his vehicle was driven from the scene with moderate damage. The buggy had severe damage and was removed from the scene. Rice was cited for Inattentive Driving and No Proof of Insurance. Lafayette County Deputies assisted at the scene.
