A Michigan-based company recently said it is making a “significant investment” in broadband infrastructure for Platteville. In a release, Astrea says it’s working to connect 4-thousand homes and businesses across the community. Company vice president Cory Heigl (hi-gull) said “It is rare in a community of Platteville’s size, that there isn’t a competitive option for Internet services, and we are committed to do just that.” Astrea is in the final stages of engineering and applying for permits to place the new fiber optic infrastructure. They say crews will soon be working throughout the city to install their system.
