Former Governor and current UW System President Tommy Thompson made a visit to UW-Platteville on Monday. Thompson talked with UWP students about the System’s 70 for 70 iniative. The goal is to have 70% of students on every UW System campus vaccinated against COVID-19. If a campus reaches the 70% benchmark, students at that school become for one of 70 scholarships valued at $7-thousand dollars. Thompson also had an opportunity to sample ice cream with the grand opening of Pioneer Sweets. The student-run business produces ice cream on campus and offered free samples inside the student center Monday afternoon.
UW-Platteville has the lowest vaccination rate among the 13 UW system schools at just 53%.
