Iowa County authorities arrested a man from Fitchburg Tuesday around 7:15am. An Iowa County Deputy initiated a traffic stop on Highway 18 in Dodgeville. Iowa County K9 Ryker was called to assist on the traffic stop and had a positive alert on the vehicle. As a result, 33 year old Richard Roper of Fitchburg was arrested for Operating with a Controlled Substance, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 2nd offense of Possession of THC, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Going Armed with a Firearm while Under Influence of a Controlled Substance. Roper was taken to the Iowa County Jail where he was booked on the charges and later released after posting bond.
