Roadwork along Highway 81 between Lancaster and Platteville will wrap up for the year on November 18th. However, the project won’t be completed until next spring. In an update from the state DOT, roughly 9.3 miles of the 11-mile long project is slated to be finished by mid-November. The remaining portion of the highway work will be done in the spring. Transportation officials say large areas of poor soil were discovered during construction – which will require additional work to remove and replace the material so a quality pavement can be installed. Highway 81 will be open to all traffic starting on November 18th. The highway will then be open to local traffic only when construction resumes in the spring.
