Matt Henningsen named a finalist for ‘academic Heisman’

MADISON, Wis. — His teammates call him a genius and Matt Henningsen is living up to that title.
On Wednesday, the Badger defensive end was named one of 13 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy, college football’s premier academic award.

The “Academic Heisman” recognizes the best in the nation for combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
Henningsen received an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship for being a finalist. He’s Wisconsin’s seventh NFF National Scholar-Athlete.
