Packers release LB Jaylon Smith 3 weeks after signing

GREEN BAY — Linebacker Jaylon Smith’s time with the Green Bay Packers is reportedly coming to an end after just three weeks.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Packers are releasing Smith today.

The former Notre Dame and Dallas Cowboys linebacker was signed by the Packers on October 7 after being released by Dallas.

Smith appeared in two games with the Packers, playing 17 snaps against the Chicago Bears and 10 snaps against the Washington Football Team, recording just one tackle. He was a healthy inactive for the Packers on Thursday night against the Arizona Cardinals.

He previously played four years with the Cowboys after being drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft despite suffering a knee injury in his final collegiate game. He made his debut during the 2017 season after missing the entire 2016 season recovering from that injury.
