During his first day on the job, a Prairie du Chien officer is getting credit for helping find a suicidal juvenile unharmed. According to a release from the Prairie du Chien Police Department, K9 officer Phoenix was part of a search party called to locate the juvenile. In the release, police say authorities were contacted around 5:45 Monday evening for a suicidal juvenile who fled their residence on foot. The Prairie du Chien K9 unit assisted the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in their search. The K9 officer, who began working for the department on Monday, was able to track the scent of the juvenile and led officials to where the juvenile had been hiding a couple hundred yards from their home. The juvenile was not hurt and was taken to receive proper care.
