The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the entire Tri-State area beginning tonight. The potential for blowing snow and bitterly cold winds has prompted forecasters to issue the winter weather advisory. The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. tonight until 6 p.m. Wednesday for Clayton, Delaware, Dubuque, Jackson and Jones counties in Iowa, Jo Daviess County in Illinois and Crawford, Grant, Iowa and Lafayette counties in Wisconsin. Patchy blowing snow is expected in the advisory area, with winds of 15 to 25 mph that gust up to 45 mph at times. Bitterly cold wind chill values are expected. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, especially in rural areas causing difficult travel conditions in the area. Bitterly cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
