Shields A Candidate For Louisiana University Position

UW-Platteville Chancellor Dennis Shields is a candidate for President-Chancellor at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Shields is one of five semi-finalists for the position. Reports say interviews with the five semi-finalists have been taking place this week. Shields has been the Chancellor at UW-Platteville since 2010. In previous years, Shields was a finalist to be President at Chicago State University but was not chosen, and he withdrew his name from consideration while he was in the running to become President at Wright State university in Ohio. In addition to its campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Southern University also has campuses in New Orleans and Shreveport. The school has around 13,000 students.
