A county-run healthcare facility in southwest Wisconsin will be closing. The Iowa County Board of Supervisors have voted to shut down Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. The 15-to-5 vote to close the facility was made at this week’s board meeting. According to a release, the cost to operate the site for the past several years has greatly exceeded any revenues generated by Bloomfield. County officials also noted challenges including staffing issues and costly repairs related to the condition of the building. The state will assist Iowa County in moving current Bloomfield residents to other nearby facilities. The release also states that Bloomfield will not be allowed to close until all of the residents are properly placed at alternate facilities.
