The Platteville Water and Sewer utility seeks an increase in water rates. The water bill for an average residential customer with a 5⁄8-inch or 3⁄4-inch meter who uses 400 cubic feet of water per month would increase from $32.72 to $35.04, or an increase of slightly more than 7.%. The increase is necessary due to a 46% increase in gross plant investment and a 14% increase in operating expenses since the last water rate case was completed in 2011. A telephone public hearing on the proposed rate increase will be held at 10 a.m. on March 8th.
