A Jo Daviess County man has been sentenced to five years in prison following a violation of his probation from a 2021 conviction for dealing methamphetamine. 54 year old Mark Herrick previously pleaded guilty in April to unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. He was sentenced to 158 days in jail and three years of probation. According to a press release from the Jo Daviess County State’s Attorney Office, Herrick did not fulfill the obligations of his plea agreement. Herrick was charged in September with two counts of unlawful defrauding of a drug screening test. A report says Herrick knowingly used human urine and an adulterant to defraud a drug screening test on July 12th. Herrick’s new five-year prison term will be followed by two years of mandatory supervised release, formerly known as parole.
